The story of Boyfriend starts when he sets eyes on Girlfriend, the prettiest and most charming girl he has ever seen. She seems to like him too. Unfortunately, her father is of a different opinion. He is sure there is no such guy who would be worthy of his little daughter. And he won’t let her go out with you – unless you prove that you deserve this honor. But how can you possibly do it?

Luckily, there is something you and Daddy Dearest have in common – love for music. In the past, he used to be a rock star and now owes a club where he sets up contests between aspiring artists. Joining and winning that contest is your chance! In the process, you’ll meet plenty of interesting (and dangerous!) characters who are going to become your hip-hop opponent. Each episode is a small adventure, so it’s not only the performance part that is interesting when you play FNF, but also the story! In the end, you will fight against Daddy Dearest himself!

Rap to the beat and rock the stage!

The gameplay of Friday Night Funkin consists of listening to the beat, looking at the clues and pressing buttons. The key to success is to coordinate your hearing and the movements of your fingers. Every time you hear a beat, you need to hit a button, but not just any button – the one corresponding to the ‘subtitles’ on the screen (a sequence of arrows floating over your hero’s head). Those arrows will be pointing in different directions, and your job is to make sure you press an arrow key (or the WASD ones) exactly corresponding to that pattern.

Every successful hit will bring you points. And several successful hits in a row can give you an epic combo. Missing notes, on the contrary, will diminish your score and your health. The goal is to eventually gain more points that your opponent. You’ll have three rounds for that.
